With "A Princess in Trade" I thought I was buying a unicorn book, and instead got a romance. I put it down out of frustration with the grammar, plot and character issues at least three times. I read it to find out more about Shaly, who I love, and she was barely in it. Having said that, Princess Le'ell and Prince Chail were likeable and grew on me even when I didn't want them too. Their romance and adventures was something I had to keep picking up this damned book to keep reading about. There's nothing wrong with this book's ability to keep a reader's attention! The ending tugged my heart strings. There is a good message or two in there as well. Nevertheless, fussy readers had better skip this one, there are moments when the characters and plot do things that are plain stupid. But if you LOVED "Shaly's Quest," you will probably like this one. As with "Shaly's Quest", which I also reviewed, I would have appreciated "A Princess in Trade" more as a 15 year old.A good painting of another part of the author's imaginative world. One message for J.R.Knoll, though: Shaly, Shaly, Shaly!

I've been waiting for the sequel to Shahly's Quest for a while now. I was very happy to see the series has expanded to seven books. If you're fond of unicorns and dragons, then this is a great series to read.
J.R.Knoll was a friend to our family when our oldest daughter was in high school. So when his 1st book was published our family bought at least 4 of them. My wife fell in love with the white unicorn so I bought the 2nd book. If you like the Last Unicorn; you'll love these books also [Chronicles of Brawrloxoss]. My wife is now reading Chronicles of Brawrloxoss, Book 3. One of the 1st books we bought we gave to our oldest granddaughter as a gift. She now is hooked on these books. The 2nd book has the same unicorns & dragons as the 1st & is another adventure in the life of Shaly & friends. You can't help but fall in love with Shaly!! You'll laugh at how innocently she seems to get herself into trouble!!
Great series.
Before I say anything about this particular book in the series by J.R. Knoll I have read nearly them all and have enjoyed every one! The characters are charming, witty and portrayed accordingly to what you'd expect! A Princess In Trade was by far one of my favorites and I easily fell for spunky Princess Le'ell and her charming, charismatic Prince Chail. A mighty tale! Imaginative, fun and a great read for all ages )
This is a story of true love and its realization after all has been wiped from your memory. Love still survived.
