This book obviusly ends with Anne Boleyn's end as the story is based on a true historial event. In this particular novel I thoght Anne was portrayed as a sympathic character we are meant to pity. Many books I have read about her portray her and a fanascinating, vivacious if vindictive person. It was refreashing to see her in this light. The story is told in first person so of course things are told in a way Anne Boleyn herself may have felt before she lost her head. This is so long ago I highly anyone will ever know what Anne Boleyn was truly like. However, if the real Anne is at all like the Anne in this book she can be assured her legagy has lived on.

Doomed Queen Anne A Young Royals Book Carolyn Meyer Books Reviews

This book was interesting but a little too basic for my taste.
Anne Boleyn suffers from the black and white syndrome-- either she is portrayed as wicked beyond redemption (think Philippa Gregory), or a victim of Henry born centuries too soon, a proto feminist if you will(Robin Maxwell.) She was more fascinating than either of these portrayals, and Carolyn Meyer has done this complicated woman almost to perfection in this novel. Anne is shown as a relatable, sympathetic woman, but not a perfect one either. You can see how she was seduced by Henry's power and how once caught in the game, she staked everything too high. I also liked that Catherine of Aragon was drawn out well here, as were Anne's siblings and the Henry in this book is a man I could have fallen for too.The main complaint was portraying her with the deformities, but other than that, I really felt like I had lived Anne's turbulent and ultimately doomed life with her, and kept hoping for a happy ending. Elizabeth I think was Anne's happy ending. I also recommend Beware, Princess Elizabeth and the others in this series.
Don't be fooled by the title of my review, I'm a Tudor history fanatic. But behind every love of a certain period of history is a TRAGIC story of reality. Anne Boleyn is an example of this. She risked everything for something noone thought she could have. She rose higher then anyone else, just about, in her lifetime, but she also had so much farther to fall. The tragedy of Anne Boleyn and the five other innocent men who died in 1536 is a cold splash of tyranny, cruelity, and the harsh reality of Tudor England. Doomed Queen Anne is a book written from Anne's viewpoint of all that befell her her bouts of happiness, her tears, her sufferings, her love life, and her shattered dreams that she attained yet paid the highest price of all. An amazing book and extremely well-written about this tragic historical figure in one of the most intriguing time periods in the history of England and the world.
Interesting side of the same story we have all heard and or read before. Small typos caused a few second guesses but over all a good read.
Anne Boleyn besides Catherine of Aragon is the most interesting of Henry's wives she make the life of Henry the VIII more entertaining because it's so full of drama. Carolyn Meyer however adds that notes of spice that make the story worth reading, despite the fact that Anne is a pain in the neck, Mrs Meyer helps you sympathize with her. LoveMs. Meyers books and bought many copies to give away as gifts. Kudos!!
Though not quite as entertaining as some of the other Young Royals books, Doomed Queen Anne gives readers an interesting perspective on how Anne Boleyn may have viewed life in Henry VIII's court. She starts off as a naive, well-meaning young girl living in her sister's shadow, but overtime becomes a cold, haughty woman as a result of ambition and paranoia. I felt the ending was a bit rushed but otherwise, Doomed Queen Anne is entertaining and a good choice for young adults interested in historical fiction. It goes well with Carolyn Meyer's other novels, Mary, Blood Mary, and Beware, Princess Elizabeth.
Alright, if you're like me, you've read The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory and thought Anne was a snob. However, that novel is very poorly researched, and Meyer delves into what Anne might really have been like in this book. It is a historical fiction, so some things are not factual, but this paints a riveting picture of Elizabeth I's mother, Anne Boleyn. It also poses entertaining answers to the questions of "why?" Readers walk away feeling absolutely enthralled, at least I did, it is such a haunting book! The story starts with our lady of the hour, Anne Boleyn, awaiting her execution and recounting her short tenure as queen. What you don't get is the usual wicked woman most people portray, instead, you get a girl that wanted to best her pretty elder sister whose shadow she was raised under. You get a girl caught up in a romantic tizzy with the king whom her sister was mistress to. Anne spawns a plan to best her elder sister, and to not only become Henry's mistress, but his queen. It is a heart wrenching tale as you watch her struggle for his affection, and then lose it in the end like her predecessor did. However, Anne leaves a legacy behind that has surpassed Catherine of Aragon and Jane Seymour Elizabeth I, one of England's finest monarchs. This story reminds us all that Anne was not just a "great whore" as some have said, but a real person with emotions and desires and ambitions. Her greatest enemy, unfortunately, was that ambition that raised her so high.
