Brigette Manie has an ability to develop characters who are true to life and makes for a wonderful story in her book The Man Beside Her (Pioneers in the Pulpit Book 1). One of my favorite quotes from the book. "We can disagree, We will not be disagreeable." When new pastor Diane McPherson comes to town the board of elders wants nothing more than to make it their job to get her to leave. They find out soon enough that will be next to impossible. Diane is not only a great pastor, but she has a way of bringing the truth to each and every situation. The author is a true wordsmith and understands how to develop a great story. Keeping the reader involved to the very end. Throughout this story we find that God is always at work in each and every relationship. It was an excellent read and I look forward to reading more of the books in this series. Well written.

I absolutely loved Dianah strength. She gets things done with love even when all odds are against her.
This book was truly great. I read it in one day cause I literally couldn't put it down. It kept my interest from start to finish.
This is excellent for teaching and discussion both do and not to do. I will be doing this entire series for my church library book forum. A good teachings and lessons to know
I enjoyed this first book in this series. It was sometimes hard to deal with allllll the extra characters and their story lines, but it was all tied together in the end. The plot twists were good! I was rooting for Diane and Slade the whole time!
This book was a fast, interesting and fun read. It was very well written and gripping. It was hard to put down. The characters are so real and I could relate to each and every one of them. I loved the spiritual undertones and the message. Good book and I highly recommend it!
Great Read like the rest of her books. I think this one was great because there are so many up and coming women who are leading out in our churches as pastors. This is inspiring to those who are female pastors and their mates or significant others. I like the way "The Man Besider Her" was real about who he was, and what he believed.
Yet another well-written piece in this captivating series!! The author brings the characters and their personalities to life so much so that it felt as though I knew each of them personally. I appreciate the fact that she did not shy away from preserving the realness and imperfections of the characters despite the fact that it is written in a christian setting. This book, just like the others in this series, subtly but directly educates and inspires its readers. It is definitely a great read that doesn't skimp on the details that capture the attention of the reader. I should know, I read it in one sitting!!
I really enjoyed this author,this is the fifth or sixth book I have read by this author and I have loved them all. We serve an awesome God. Elder Eugene was just pure evil he was trying to run Pastor McPherson out of the church when he should have been looking at all the dirt he had done and all the lives he had destroyed. Wonderful story with a few hidden secrets that I did not see until they were right in front of me.
